Twitter has been inundated with tweets, from conservatives and liberals alike. Each side has been presenting their own case, and at the end of the day it comes down to one hashtag: #WarOnWomen. The question I propose is not whether or not this seemingly sex-charged debate exists, rather, I want to know the why behind it.
Barack Obama took office on January 20, 2009. At that moment in history, gas prices were, on average, $1.89 and racial and sexual tensions weren’t that high either. Ever since, however, this issue has only been escalating. Year after year Obama has held special meetings with isolated groups of people (black, hispanic, male, female) and repeating to them that they are not a special interest group. Mr. President, when you are singling out a group of people, you are, in fact, creating an interest group. You don’t have to acknowledge its existence for it to exist.
Women:
President Obama has said that he is dramatically improving the economy, however, he is leaving over 50% of the U.S. population behind: women.
The Obama campaign has been focusing on ripping apart all GOP candidates, with a special focus on the likely nominee, Mitt Romney. This is a tactic Obama has used time and time again. When Barack Obama has nothing to show for the wreckage he has caused, he encourages hatred toward the opposing side. So, since the President has done nothing to increase job creation among women, he has attempted (with cheesy hashtags on Twitter) to mass-produce a narrative that Mitt Romney hates women and the GOP wants to send America backward. Thus, he has shifted the focus off of his clear leadership failure and onto a backless narrative that stirs up emotional rhetoric.
Having done this, what has he achieved? Not only is the focus off of him and onto the GOP, it also leaves Republicans with a baseless attack that they now must repudiate, delaying their foundational and legitimate arguments against Obama’s policies.
And, as far as it goes with the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, I, along with almost everyone in Congress, supports equal pay for both men and women alike. However, I do not agree with the Ledbetter Act for one reason: It does not just mandate equal pay for women and men, it also gives women the grounds to sue the company that they worked for maybe 20 years ago under a completely different leadership. Meaning, her pay may now be equivalent to her male coworker, but 20 years ago it was not, so, under this Act, she now has the authority to sue the new corporate leadership for something that the old leadership did. This could be detrimental to small, medium and large private-sector businesses. To say that conservatives don’t support equal pay grades for both sexes is ludicrous. Find the facts and then come back. For leftist congressional representatives this has never been about women’s rights, it’s about keeping their seat in Congress and keeping their pocket laced in gold.
Mitt Romney and the Impish Rich:
Earlier this week, Obama tweeted “5 Things You Need To Know About Mitt Romney.” This was another failed Twitter attempt by the President (remember #ILikeObamacare?) to stir up anger and frustration toward the likely nominee. However, upon skimming through the Twitter responses, he, yet again, got less than favorable results.
In fact, after reading this list of 5 “detrimental” characteristics, I, and thousands of other people, only desired to vote for Romney more. It is a dangerous thought to see that our President can call all of these policy proposals outrageous. When you read this short list, all you find is a person that supports a free-market, constitutional government (where everyone has the right to life). Now, I guess that is radical when put up against Barack Obama’s Keynesian and socialistic economics.
Black Americans:
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the unemployment rate for African-Americans is 22.5% nationally. For a person that took office, as the first half-black President in American history, saying his focus would be on the “minorities” and on job creation among African-American voters, he surely has failed. Not only has he failed, he has failed miserably. I am in no way desiring to single out any part of America, we are all Americans first and foremost. I am simply stating that for a politician that made a clear promise as a staple of his 2008 campaign that he would stand up for the black community, he has done the opposite. Sure, he has included the black community in his many speeches targeting “minorities” and interest groups, but has he done anything to end racial tension? No. And for long term solutions, not temporary bandaids, a buzzword from the far left won’t solve any great divide.
On top of not aiding the situation he has expanded the problem. In his 2004 book, Dreams From My Father, Obama doesn’t encourage races and sexes to come together, in fact, he encourages division. He has created the majority of the class, sex and race warfare that exists today. Let me give you some direct quotes:
“I found a solace in nursing a pervasive sense of grievance and animosity against my mother’s race.” – Barack Obama
“I ceased to advertise my mother’s race at the age of 12 or 13, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was integrating myself to whites.” – Barack Obama
“It remained necessary to prove which side you were on, to show your loyalty to the black masses, to strike out and name names.” – Barack Obama
Does this man really seem like someone who has brought America together? Or is it a man who has given the facade of unity and foundationally torn America apart at the seams for his own political gain?
